Html cache steam можно удалить
I notice steam keeps a lot of files inside C:\Program Files\Steam\config\htmlcache
And also inside C:\Program Files\Steam\appcache\httpcache\XX with XX numbers.
It’s dozens of files, I guess for the browser embeded in the steam client.
Is there an option to remove those files ?
Are there any no bad effects to remove them ?
Or is there an option to have no cache in hard disk but have it only in memory like in firefox or set the maximum cache size ?
you can delete anything but the steam.exe and steam will work.
what steam needs it recreates or downloads.
Yes I tried it and it works.
But the problm is there an option to have 0 cache on disk, but only in memory, like for firefox ?
not that I know of.
see if there are any options on the valve developer page
https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Command_Line_Options
There is the option steam.exe -nocache
«This starts steam with no cache (Steam must be off for this to work properly). «
I dont know what this means.
It doesn’ work,
Still many folders and files created in C:\Program Files\Steam\appcache\httpcache\
and in C:\Program Files\Steam\config\htmlcache
I told you the first time there is no way I know to achieve what you want.
it is for another cache dono witch just know it is not what you need/want.
and you played with it , playing is good for you.
google if you want to know more about it.
I know this is a super old thread, but I have just learned of (what I know of at the moment to be) all of the places steam stores cookies.
The locations are as follows for a 64 bit computer:
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Steam\htmlcache
C:\Program Files (86x)\Steam\appcache\httpcache
Just a note to say that the Appdata\Local\Steam location for those html files was a useful hint, and helped me improve the efficacy of squashing Steam related issues (even long after having solved whatever else was bedeviling customers with malware/adware/scumware ‘suites’). My thanks, and I have assembled a more or less complete run down of how to do this on a few threads as a means of repayment/paying it forward.
Thank you, and know that many more will indirectly who will use that as part of their overall repair package. ~Al

Thanks a lot, i’ve deleted everything on C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Steam\htmlcache and the problem with steam browser was solved 😀 just close steam before and when you open steam again. Wololo

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Steam\htmlcache
C:\Program Files (86x)\Steam\appcache\httpcache
Very helpful hint. But for 64 bit OS, although htmlcache folder is located in AppData\Local\Steam folder, overlayhtmlcache is still in Program Files (x86)\Steam. But i think it is just a remnant coming from very old Steam releases and not used anymore.
By the way, is it safe to manually delete the contents of both folder? They are growing and I don’t think there would be any cache limit.
