Without further details nobody will be able to help you. OpenCart 3.0.3.6 works just fine for PHP 7.4

Hello
Here are the details
Clean installation Opencart 3.0.3.6 , try to use Php 7.4.10 and get the following message
Unsupported PHP Version
Opencart 3.0.3.6 does not fully support PHP 7.4.10 version!

Consult with your hosting provider for more information regarding how to downgrade PHP to 7.3 (or lower).
If I return to Php 7.3.22 everything works ok
Thank you in advanced

This is something for your webhost to sort out. Your error message ‘Unsupported PHP Version’ does not come from OpenCart. All OpenCart does is this in the system/startup.php:

// Check Version if (version_compare(phpversion(), '7.3.0', '

Such a message does not exist in a standard and original OpenCart Installation.
Installed that version for a client 1 hour ago, php 7.4.x — and worked as it should.

Well, that was anything but a clean installation

Journal3 is one of the worst OpenCart extensions, it’s not a proper standard-compliant theme!

But it is NOT, what for do you think php 7.4.x was published — and 8.x will be published soon.

Failed opening required ‘/system/startup.php’

Searching for the answer I see this has happened to many folks and the answer always seems to be to check the config and index files. I have checked them and altered them (full path. relative path) and nothing seems to be working.
My host in Dreamhost (I’ve dropped them a line as well. waiting for a response) and their path to the public folder is /home/[username]/[site address]/ where the site address is actually the «public folder».
My errors as as follows:
[Thu Apr 14 11:21:44.425439 2022] [fcgid:warn] [pid 99698:tid 119451464468224] [client 68.200.14.116:52364] mod_fcgid: stderr: PHP Warning: require_once(/system/startup.php): Failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/paumaz3/mazcrafters.com/index.php on line 17

startup.php does in fact exist in /home/paumaz3/mazcrafters.com/system.

INDEX FILE IS:
// Version
define(‘VERSION’, ‘3.0.3.8’);

// Configuration
if (is_file(‘config.php’)) require_once(‘config.php’);
>

// Install
if (!defined(‘DIR_APPLICATION’)) header(‘Location: install/index.php’);
exit;
>

// Startup
require_once(DIR_SYSTEM . ‘startup.php’);

// DIR
define(‘DIR_APPLICATION’, ‘/catalog/’);
define(‘DIR_SYSTEM’, ‘/system/’);
define(‘DIR_IMAGE’, ‘/image/’);
define(‘DIR_STORAGE’, ‘/home/paumaz3/storage/’);
define(‘DIR_CATALOG’, ‘/catalog/’);
define(‘DIR_LANGUAGE’, DIR_APPLICATION . ‘language/’);
define(‘DIR_TEMPLATE’, DIR_APPLICATION . ‘view/template/’);
define(‘DIR_CONFIG’, DIR_SYSTEM . ‘config/’);
define(‘DIR_CACHE’, DIR_STORAGE . ‘cache/’);
define(‘DIR_DOWNLOAD’, DIR_STORAGE . ‘download/’);
define(‘DIR_LOGS’, DIR_STORAGE . ‘logs/’);
define(‘DIR_MODIFICATION’, DIR_STORAGE . ‘modification/’);
define(‘DIR_SESSION’, DIR_STORAGE . ‘session/’);
define(‘DIR_UPLOAD’, DIR_STORAGE . ‘upload/’);

// DB
define(‘DB_DRIVER’, ‘mysqli’);
define(‘DB_HOSTNAME’, ‘HOSTNAME’);
define(‘DB_USERNAME’, ‘[USERNAME’);
define(‘DB_PASSWORD’, ‘PWD’);
define(‘DB_DATABASE’, ‘DB’);
define(‘DB_PORT’, ‘3306’);
define(‘DB_PREFIX’, ‘oc_’);

I tried putting the full path into the config file but that generated a whole new slew of errors. So I put them back.
Any help greatly appreciated!

Undefined index: language in startup.php after switching from PHP 5.6 to PHP 7.1 version

After switching PHP version from PHP 5.6 to PHP 7.1 i get following error in the ERROR logfile of the hosting server:
[php7:notice] [host www.MYDOMAIN.com] PHP Notice: Undefined index: language in system/storage/modification/catalog/controller/startup/startup.php on line 39

The opencart shop seems to work without errors so far and no errors are being written into the error log of opencart.

Any idea how I can adjust startup.php in order to get rid of this PHP7 error in the log of the web hoster?

I changed Display Errors to No under Error Handling in opencart>Settings>Store>Server, but the error in the server log of my webhoster is still being logged.

Well, it might not be the upmost professional way of doing things, to just ignore Server
Warnings, or even Error messages, but just today, I stumbled over an extension, making
life a little easier for those, unable to get rid of such Messages. After an error file contains
more than 1MegaByte of such lines, one gets informed, to do something about it, by either
deleting it’s content, or better, start to fix the system.
But you could also check, if your Hoster uses PHP v.7.0.xx as well, and try with that Version,
since v.7.0.xx even functions with v.1.5.6.x .
Good Luck!
